Horizontal, Wilesco D-16, live steam engine (B) With Box
This is a Horizontal, Wilesco D-16, live steam engine, ready to run. This engine has had very little use. These engines are a fine example of German engineering. This machine has oil ports on every moving part. It has a large 80mm flywheel, a 13mm bore and a 16mm stroke.
It has a 140mm x 55mm boiler with a 250 cm2 capacity. The exhaust line is routed back to the original smoke stack to make the steam look like smoke.
It is a double acting, reversible engine with a throttle control. It also has a Wilesco safety valve.The original governor works too. It has the newer style whistle with a very good tone. The original Wilesco burner system is adjustable to save fuel or to put the coals to it. It is a power house. I made a brass chuff pot for it too.
I included the original instructions and some other info I put together. I included a bag of fuel, a bottle of steam engine oil, and a 250ml (8 ounce) incremented fill bottle. I tested this engine and it ran great. It is mounted on a hand crafted Spruce platform. The box is in fair condition with a hole in the top (see pictures). In order to expedite your order I go to the post office as soon as it opens the following day. Since they are pre-packed, I cannot combine engines. Note; Sometimes Spruce will get a warp to it as it dries.I dry my lumber in a rack for several months, but this is not always enough. When it changes climates from the high humidity of Florida to an area that is prone to have low humidity it can exacerbate this condition. I always position my engine or accessory on the top of the crown, so it should stay level on the intended surface.
