Steam Engine Wilesco D20 - Model on Wheels
Used Wilesco D20 in an excellent working condition. A large and powerful unit that easily drives this DC generator. The Volt Gauge shows an easy 4 - 5 Volt output. This portable DC electric generator model is on wheels but it is not self driven.
You need a model tractor like a Wilesco D405 or Mamod Te1a (or similar scale) to do the towing. Tested successfully with a Wilesco D405 after adding a filled water cart hooked on behind the genny! This model was typically based on the first portable electric generators that was used in World War 1 (circa 1914) by field hospitals in France. The development of X-Ray units required reliable electrical power sources.The brilliant Marie Curie initiated this idea and it was implemented on the battlefields. By 1918 dedicated X-Ray models were designed and it eventually saved thousands of lives. The boiler is equipped with a steam control valve, safety valve, water level sight glass, pressure gauge and a displacement oiler. The DC generator comes with a working Volt meter and a knife switch.
The burner is butane gas with a "Ronson" style refill valve. It comes with a three LED light post as seen but more LED lights may be added. Double acting Piston diameter 13mm - Stroke 16mm (Standard Wilesco D20). Boiler length 125mm - Diameter 65mm - Boiler capacity 400ml.
Size of wagon is 12 x 5 inches (30 x 13 cm). Height to top of stack 11-1/2 inches (29cm). Diameter of rubber lined wheels 2-3/4 inches (7cm).
