Offered for sale is a Live Steam, Twin Cylinder model Marine Engine. The bore is 19mm and the stroke is also 19mm. Engines of this design were used for model boat racing from the 1920's to 1960's.
The base, crank case/block and cylinder head are made from iron castings. The crank shaft, connecting rods, pistons, piston valve, flywheel and actuating yoke are made from steel. The bearings and bevel gears are made from brass. A brass globe valve and displacement oiler along with copper inlet and exhaust pipes are fitted.
The whole assembly is mounted on a hardwood base and is very ornamental. Oil filled crank case fitted with a breather and dipstick/filler cap. Crank shaft, gears, bearings and. The bottom of the pistons are lubricated by.The valve piston and upper cylinders are lubricated from the displacement oiler when used on steam or by oil added into the inlet pipe for short runs on compressed air. Engines of this type are notorious for dripping oil and this example is no exception. The engine turns freely though is tight, and runs on 5-10psi air pressure.
