Vintage Horizontal Jensen 75 live steam engine (f)
This is a vintage, Horizontal Jenson 75 live steam engine, with lever reverse. This engine is in great operational condition. I tested this engine and it ran great. I tested it on a Jensen -100 work shop and it had power to spare. The whistle, original governor and safety valve all work fine.
I made a brass top for the whistle and made the safety valve from brass as well. I also cleaned and resealed the site glass and flushed out the boiler which is retrofitted from an Empire engine and is a good heavy duty unit. I also put a site glass on it. I installed a band on the governor too. I put a Jensen burner tray with it.
Reverse and throttle control valves both work fine. I made a smoke stack for it. I replaced the steam supply line with 3/16 OD brass, the old one was split.
I made a needle valve for fine tuning of the throttle control. This was a fun project and turned out to be an excellent running engine. I put together an information pack with instructions too. It is mounted on a hand crafted spruce plague.
I mounted it with stainless steel screws. Please view all the pictures. What you see is what you get.
In order to expedite your order I go to the post office as soon as it opens the following day. Since they are pre-packed, I cannot combine engines.
Note; Sometimes spruce will get a warp to it as it dries. I dry my lumber in a rack for several months, but this is not always enough. When it changes climates from the high humidity of Florida to an area that is prone to have low humidity it can exacerbate this condition. I always position my engine or accessory on the top of the crown, so it should stay level on the intended surface.This seldom happens, but I wanted you to know it is a possibility.
