Vintage Horizontal Meccano live steam engine
This is a vintage, Horizontal Meccano steam engine with reverse. It is in good operational condition.
I tested it and it ran good and the safety valve works fine. It has the original alcohol / meths burner tray. It is mounted on a hand crafted Florida Cyprus plague. I added an eight ounce/250ml fill bottle and a bottle of steam cylinder oil.
I made a new overflow thumb screw, manifold, cylinder, piston, rod and connector for it as well. I used existing holes to mount it with stainless steel screws. Please view all the pictures. What you see is what you get. Since they are pre-packed, I cannot combine engines.
I retired a few years ago and have always enjoyed working in my shop. I have been intrigued with steam engines since I was very young. One of the things on my bucket list was to learn how to operate a metal lathe and a mill. When I retired these two things came together for me and I have been refurbishing toy steam engines ever since. From the time I started till now, I have refurbished several hundred engines. I test every engine before I sell it. I get great pleasure in bringing these guys back to life and knowing that folks are getting a good running steamer.I was a carpenter for many years, so I also make the Cyprus plaques as well.
