Antique steam engine

A fine antique 19th century steam engine in original as found attic condition. Numbers of us think of antique machines as art objects and this engine is a prime example of mechanical sculpture. This is an especially attractive well designed and finely built desk top size engine. It is of brass construction with steel operating rods and main arbor.

Please look at all the pictures as the design and construction details of this piece are just great. There are some small parts missing which are obvious to those with steam engine experience and should be simple to replace. The engine is mounted on what looks like its original alabaster base. The engine also retains a lot of its original paint, especially red with black striping on its cylinder. In our opinion this fine antique engine would be an absolute knock-out if properly restored.

Wether presented in polished brass & steel, with paint restored, or in a combination of polish & paint mounted on a stone or wood base it would be a wonderful display and/or operating period piece. This engine has been in our collection for years and it was our intention to restore it and keep it. We have not been able to take the ime to do this.
