Late 1880s Ornate Vertical Toy Steam Engine. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN For Full Description. Beautifully made heavy gauge brass and cast iron oscillating cylinder steam engine dating from the late 1880s. Although it resembles certain stationary engines by Marklin, it is most probably a product of Clyde Model Dockyard. Definitely a commercially produced piece and NOT a homemade model.
It measures 7" in height, with a 3.25" flywheel and the 3.5 diameter boiler with a center flue. There are several small factory formed holes in the cast iron base which may have been for certain optional attachments. The unit does not have its original burner, but most average size burners can be inserted through the opening at the back.
