It is number 4112-11 and is the largest of the early 1900s that were vertical. The special part of the toy is the tin lithography and tiled base, making this a very early engine and likely from around 1912. Base size is shown, close to a 12 x 13 base, with a tape measurer in the photos.
The burner is included and separately pictured. The diameter of the flywheel is cataloged at 110 mm (4.33) [To us closer to 4.5 Outer Diameter]. The burner door is present and works; it is cast iron. These black cast iron parts have aging and chipping, consistent with original owner use.The boiler is in good condition with a well worn finish on a spun brass column. The burner cap appears to be brass with a worn nickel finish. The gauge is present as is the oft lost water level glass gauge. Pistons and the flywheel spin as expected and operate smoothly by hand. Feed Water from the boiler is supplied using a valve and handle.
Above it are the iconic A B C red painted labels. This is to help operators know what position is on, off and mid position. The original stack is present as is the filler cap for water. Note that these parts tend to be lost, so this is a wonderful toy that has its parts.
Our example of this Marklin steam engine is in good all original condition with no restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This would be a great and impressive addition to any collection. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
